Kaitlyn R. Maxwell will present a webinar for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on this ubiquitous class of chemicals of emerging concern and the status of state and federal regulatory action, including potential implications for cost-recovery actions under CERCLA and HSCA, liability releases under Pennsylvania’s Act 2 program, and real estate transactions.

This webinar will address:
•Pennsylvania’s plans to investigate potential PFAS contamination in hundreds of public water supplies and to develop a maximum contaminant level;
•A technical overview of PFAS and their potential environmental threats;
•Developments at the federal level, including actions taken by EPA and the FDA;
•Implications of defining certain PFAS as “hazardous substances;” and
•How potential PFAS contamination can impact real estate transactions.
